Buddies was formed in 2002 as a response to the 'Tampa' issue in 2001, and continues to be active 23 years later.

BUDDIES
Buddies is an independent Sunshine Coast community group that advocates for the just and compassionate treatment of refugees and people seeking asylum, consistent with the international human rights standards that Australia helped develop and has endorsed.
We support policies towards refugees and people seeking asylum that reflect respect, fairness, and generosity to those in need, while advancing Australia’s international standing and societal interests.
We meet regularly three times a year in Buderim Queensland. Our next meeting is to be advised.
