Since 2017 Buddies has been working with the Romero Centre in Brisbane collecting non- perishable food and toiletries for refugees and asylum seekers.
The Romero Centre provides and connects asylum seekers living in Brisbane with practical support (like food and shelter), legal connections, English classes, medical care, trauma counselling, community events and more.
Please help by donating any of the items from the list:

Refugees need to eat and you can help
Romero has responded to the challenge of Covid-19 in a few ways. The staff have divided in ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams that work separate shifts. In case there is an infection, only one shift will need to go into quarantine while the second shift will be able to hold the fort. Staff that can work from home are doing so.
Romero has also welcomed assistance from students of the University of Queensland and Griffith University. The groceries that used to be available at the Romero Centre in Dutton Park are now being delivered to over fifty households in south-east Queensland!
Romero have also been heartened by approaches from local community groups asking if they can help out in some way at this time. With Romero's guidance some have been fundraising, while others have assembled and delivered food hampers to specific Romero client families.
Buddies' supporters can of course continue to contribute to Romero by delivering non-perishable foods and household groceries to our drop-off points on the Sunshine Coast:
Buderim: 30 Orme Road or 138 Lindsay Road
Nambour: 8 Kerada Road
Landsborough: 7 Mary Street
You can also donate to Romero via credit card on their website HERE.
